Name each changelog edition
Give each changelog edition a name that is easy to scan and share, or let the publication date stand in.
You can give each release announcement a name that makes it easy to scan and share.
When you are preparing an edition, add a name to the draft. That name leads the published page, so readers see it first, and it is what appears when you share the link elsewhere.
If you leave the name blank, you do not need to do anything else. Everywhere the edition appears will show the date it went out instead, so readers can still tell editions apart.
What to expect without a name
An unnamed edition is titled by its publication date. The date appears once at the top, and is not repeated underneath.
Naming is useful when you want people to remember or talk about a release, such as a seasonal update or a milestone. Dates work well for routine updates you publish on a regular rhythm.
To learn more about regular updates, see Automatically write your changelog on schedule. To control what the shared link shows, see Show a preview when you share an update.
