Set permanent instructions for your changelog
Write lasting rules for what your changelog should include, skip, or never make public.
You can tell your changelog what to say and what to leave out, once, and have it remembered.
If your team has its own communication rules, write them as permanent instructions for your changelog. They will shape your upcoming drafts so you do not have to repeat the same notes every week.
Use them to say what to include, what to leave out, and what should never go public. For example, you can ask that client names are never quoted, that certain work stays visible while pricing experiments stay internal, or that technical clean-up is skipped.
Your instructions apply to future drafts. They do not rewrite editions you have already published.
What to expect
Your drafts follow your instructions along with your usual review. You can still edit any draft before it goes out, and you can update your instructions at any time when your rules change.
If you write changelogs on a schedule, see Automatically write your changelog on schedule and Know what is public in each release.
