Send product updates to your other tools

Send automatic notices to your other tools every time a changelog edition or product change happens.

Published

You can let your other tools hear about new releases the moment they go out, so no one has to check for updates.

In featury you can set up connections that send a signed notice when something happens in your product. That includes every time a changelog edition is published, whether you published it yourself or its review time ended on its own. The notice carries the edition number, title and public link. You can also get notices for published deliveries, new requests and status changes.

Each connection has its own secret for checking that messages are really from featury. You see it only once when you create or replace it, so save it right away. You can test a connection with one click and see the history of past sends with their status and tries. If you open a send you can see exactly what message was posted, which helps when the other side did not process it.

What to expect if the other side has trouble:

  • If it is busy, rate limited or has a temporary error, or the network fails, we try again a few times with growing waits. We also honor the wait it asks for, up to an hour. Redirects and rejected messages stop after the first try.
  • If a connection fails repeatedly, we switch it off after ten failed sends to protect you from noise. Retries do not count toward that total.
  • When that happens, the person who set it up (or an administrator) gets a message in featury and by email, with a direct link to review and turn it back on.
  • If sending is interrupted, anything saved but not yet sent resumes instead of staying stuck.

People with the manager role or above can also create, change, delete, test and check these connections from outside featury without opening the app.
