Check if a request already exists
Check whether your product already covers a request before you plan it, and keep confirmed requests marked as delivered.
You can check whether your product already does what a request asks for before you plan or build it. This saves rework and helps you see what already exists.
If the check shows the request is already live, closing the request records it as delivered, with its production milestone. It is not filed away as a discarded idea, so your history stays true.
What to expect
- Anyone on the team can run the check on an open request.
- If a request was already confirmed as delivered, closing it simply marks it as delivered. You will not see a second, repeated confirmation underneath.
- If you close a request by hand or by merging work, the check still runs first.
- If you reopen a delivered request and close it again, the check runs again.
Use this check for ideas that sound familiar, or when you are not sure if something was already built. For ideas about changing something that exists, see Request a change to something that exists. To learn how requests close when work ships, see Close requests when work is delivered.
